Tough weekend at Donington Park

27 August 2024

Donington was a tough one to take and I can confidently say that I’m glad to see the back of that weekend.

Multiple problems with the car meant no stable running in practise which continued into another mechanical issue in quali where there was no chance I would be able to push for a lap time, so would have to start race 1 and 3 from the back.

Then race 1 had engine problems meaning I had nothing to keep up with the pack and the main aim just became to bring it to the flag so was the last finisher.

Race 2 it seemed that we were able to sort the issues and although starting at the back was able to make my way through and have some fun, which given the way the weekend had gone so far, became the main thing we wanted to achieve. Finished race 2 in P16.

Race 3 I went into pretty confident that I would be able to make my way through to a decent place on track as I had seen the car was in better shape in Race 2, however after contact on the first lap I was miles behind and trying to regain places then had to manage a brake issue which, although I was able to come back slightly, it ultimately led to a frustrating finish in P17 which I believed could have been better.

A few positive take aways from the weekend within the driving which is what we’ll focus on going into our next round at Croft.

Although the weekend was massively frustrating, I can’t thank @motorsport_snowman enough for the constant work on the car trying to get it back to a fighting position. We tried to throw everything at it but luck didn’t seem to be in our favour this time around. We’ll try again at Croft in a couple weeks time.

Thank you as well to all the guys and girls at EXCELR8 Motorsport for this weekend, always good to have a team this strong around you on weekends like these.
